Hey folks

or rather, hypthetical blog readers

I got to see julia for an hour and a half or so today. It was very nice to see you again miss 5ftj even if too briefly.

Right now I'm pretty vexed with my employer, Swift transportation, as they're not doing a good job of keeping me moving. The do manage to lose a lot of paperwork that I send them, and put me on "safety Hold" for missing paperwork, which pisses me off something fierce, especially as they have already had said paperwork sent to them twice.

On the plus side I do have passion for exploring the local environs when I get the opportunity and I've been doing that a bit. Found a nice little italian joint with great food and cute waitresses, which seems to be a pleasingly common sort place to find in jersey. I want to like jersey but it's a seriously crappy place to have to drive a big rig. Other truckers will tell you it's the worst state to drive in as well.

Julia told me something important today. I told her about how she and all of my previous girlfriends have been very disappointed with me for not figuring out what to do with my life. She said that I have to stop disappointing myself.  Erica said something like that, that I can remember, that I always fail myself. Which I hope is less true now than it used to be.

I'm getting to understand that you don't do things because they are possible, you make things possible by doing them. This is one thing that would be a big asset to understand and feel in the depths of my soul.  Someting to help displace my deep well of negativity.

Anyway, love to all.

Well hello again

This morning I received a phone call from Arizona or Nevada from my mentor, John, who got me started at Swift trucking, for my six week initial training period. He called wanting to know if bats were "narcoleptic", as he had seem some out in the daytime and had thought that that was odd.

I explained to him that he wanted the word Nocturnal, as narcoleptic refers to a brain disease where you spontaneously fall asleep, when you laugh or something like that.  I explained that at least up here in mass you'll start seeing bats around an hour or so before sunset when they com out after bugs, and that over in africa they have fruit bats that are much bigger and are diurnal, they don't have the large ears and sonar.  I don't know it for a fact but I think maybe they have them down in the Amazon as well.

So It's official, I'm now Cliff Claiven, the truck driver.

Current Mood: geeky

Hello everyone

or it that's too optimistic, hello to anyone who decides to read this.

You may or may not know that last summer I went to school to learn to drive big rigs, and now I've been doing it solo for two months, after having had six weeks with a trainer.

Which is actually a big reason why I've finally started up an LJ account. When you're out on the road for two or three weeks at a time there's no escaping the fact of loneliness, and when you have some home time you have  a fremendous appreciation for such simple things as your cats, tv, bed, car, fishing rods, friends and family. You take a lot less for granted.

So anyway, It's been nice to read up on what people have been doing.

Love and kisses to all,

or if that's too optimistic, to those who decide to read this.
